How can I successfully install a Mailchimp popup on my website?

Hi so i've been trying to figure out how to install the mailchimp popup code that you are giving in the <head> section of your theme.liquid code but on mailchimps side it is unable to connect to my store and neither is the popup showing up on my store website. Any advice?

I am having the same issue and apparently nobody in the Shopify community thinks this is important enough to respond. A little bit disappointing.
