How can I successfully transfer my domain from Shopify to Wix?

Ive had this domain since January of last year, and Im planning on moving it to Wix, since I'll be using this shopify store for another business I have. I transferred the Shopify domain to wix, but it doesnt seem to work? When I click on the wix website that shows the shopify domain I bought, it shows the shopify website, not the website I have on Wix. Is it not actually transferring the domain? Did i do something wrong? I submitted the transfer request on Sunday.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some guidance with domain migration to get this resolved. Depending on what you're looking to achieve, you can either transfer your Shopify-managed domain to a different Shopify store or to another domain provider. I recommend checking out our Transferring Shopify-Managed Domains helpdoc for additional insight on those steps. It outlines however:

If transferring your Shopify-managed domain to another Shopify store, the Account Owner can complete the following steps: 

• From the Shopify admin, head into Settings > Domains. 
• In the Shopify-managed domains section, click the name of the domain that you want to transfer.
• Click Transfer domain > Transfer to another Shopify store.
• Confirm that your store owner email address is up to date, and then click Send transfer link.
• When you receive the transfer email message, do one of the following:
  • If you're transferring the domain to a different store that you own, then click the transfer link in the email text and log in to the Shopify store where you want to transfer the domain.
  • If you're transferring the domain to a different Shopify store owner, then forward the email message to the store owner so that they can log in to Shopify.

For the domain transfer to be successful, the Account Owner is required to log in to the Shopify store directly from the transfer link in the email message. After the transfer is accepted, it can take up to 24 hours for the domain transfer to complete.

It's also important to note, this transfer would be from one Shopify store to another store and continue being managed by Shopify. 

If transferring the domain to another provider (i.e Wix) you are required to unlock the Shopify-manged domain and provider the new host with a domain authorization code. To complete, you can:

• From the Shopify admin, head into Settings > Domains. 
• In the Shopify-managed domains section, click the name of the domain that you want to transfer.
• Click Transfer domain > Transfer to another provider.
• Review the information, and then click Confirm. The domain authorization code is displayed on your domain's information page.
• Give the domain authorization code to your new domain provider to verify the transfer.

If the domain transfer is not completed within 30 days, then your domain will be locked again. To complete a transfer after 30 days, you need to cancel the existing transfer and start the transfer process again.

It's also important to note there are steps required to be completed prior to proceeding with the transfer. These are outlined within the Transferring Shopify-Managed Domain to another Domain Provider helpdoc.

I did the transfer and it says it’s processing on Wix, but it says that
“pointing” isn’t working and something about DNS. My domain is unlocked too
and I used the verification code as well. Is it normal for the pointing not
to work while it’s being transferred, or do I have to do that as well?

Great to hear! In that case, I would recommend reaching out to Wix Support for guidance on how to update your DNS settings to ensure it's pointing to the new shop moving forward. I was able to locate this helpdoc that guides you through the connection process.
