Hi,
I expect my store to get most sales from Europe, therefore I would like to change my primary market to Europe. I've created a corresponding market and changed the currency to 'euro', but it still shows United States as my primary market.
How can I change the Primary market to Europe?
Thanks in advance,
Marcus
Hi @personal-hq,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with updating your primary market, to ensure this gets resolved. To confirm I'm fully understanding, are you receiving an error when attempting to make this adjustment?
To update your primary market, you can check out our Market Types document as it touches on this further. It outlines however, that you can:
Once successfully completed, the previous country or region that was your primary market should be moved to your International market.
If you run into any troubles with this, please feel free to Contact Support directly. This will allow our support team to take a closer look, as we wouldn't have access to any account specific information through the Community.

There is no button "edit" under primary market.

Well i have the same problem, the problem is there IS NO MORE ACTIONS or EDIT button on the primary market. so I literally cannot change this. please help.
Thanks for the prompt reply @LasseN,
To confirm, have you set the newly added market to 'Active'?
If not, then you will not see the 'more actions' option. Due to this, you will want to add the market that you'd like to become your primary market in the 'Settings > Markets' section of the Shopify admin. Once added, you can then set up shipping rates for the market and set it to 'active'.
Completing this step, will then allow you to view 'more actions' and set it as your primary market. For ease, I've shared a screenshot below that outlines this:

I had the same problem but I found a solution by chance. Set the market you want to make your primary inactive and active again. After doing this, I saw the option "Make primary". If that doesn't work, set all markets (including international) active and then set your intended primary market inactive and active again. Just play around with active / inactive and you should see the option.
This was SUPER advice!! I had tried everything, and I was so frustrated, I couldn't edit primary marked, and I made other markets and none could be set as primary. Until I did as you said, removed all countries but one, in the new market I made. Suddenly I could set it as primary, and then I could finally change the market that was actually primary in the first place. The options to edit wont appear if you have more than one country in the market, and you cant change your primary until you've set another market as primary- because the buttons wont appear there either.
I am having the same issue as @EytanG and @LasseN
My business is based in Belgium and only has one location (in Belgium) yet by accident the primary market is set to UK and Europe is an active secondary market. Under primary market I don't see the option to edit or change primary market and under my secondary market I see the option to edit but not to make primary. In my older US store I do see "make primary" for my active second market (Canada).
Does anyone have any idea?
Ok, so I tried adding a new market consisting of just one country instead of a group of countries called Europe. In this new one country market, I do see make primary so that makes me believe you can only assign 1 country markets as primary.
Hi, @RemcoTools. Thanks for reaching out with this update! You're correct that only one country is allowed to be in the primary market.

So is it possible to make a collection of countries like the European Union my primary market?
/edit: it's currently set to Germany, but I would rather not have Germany as a separate market since it belongs to the EU. However, I cannot delete nor make changes to the primary market.
Nope, as far as I know the primary market can only be 1 market and not a group like EU.
