How can I turn off automatic product tagging?

Hello,

Along with manual tagging, I also see auto-tagging on some of my products. However, I would like to manually tag each product. I searched the past thread but could not find any related to my issue. Auto-tagging limits my ability to show products in the desired collection and is causing issues with creating coupons targeting specific collections. Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Thank you for sharing your question with our network. 

Auto-tagging on products is not a feature built into Shopify, therefore, you are likely using a third-party app to achieve this functionality.

There are a variety of apps that offer this service, however, it's tough to be certain which one you are using and how to disable it without a deeper look at your account. If possible, please share a list of your current apps with me and I can then help you look into disabling this functionality or thoroughly uninstalling the app going forward.

Find a list of your installed apps by logging in to your store and heading to Admin > Apps .

Our App Store does have thousands of apps which means we are not familiar with all of them and recommend that you look through each of these individually.

With that being said, if I had to guess I might recommend looking at any of the ones that can and do edit product information. For example, the SC Order Tags and Workflow might have an automation you set up.

If you do have extra unused apps installed then you may also remove some to prevent any unwanted functions or interference on your store.

Hi @GACSTOP  I think you are using some auto tags app, and forget to turn off the rule.
Hope you can check all apps again.

If by auto-tagging you meant the blue tags, those are not tags as such, but displayed information about the collections in which this product is referenced. Those can be automatic collections, which means that a product can be automatically assigned to a collection if it matches the conditions. So I would make sure the automatic collections that are displayed are correctly configured, so that they only include the products they need.

I would like to know how to stop/disable products from being added to collections automatically. I only want to assign products to collections manually. How can I do this, please?

It sounds like your question may be related to collections, for which you can set up either an Automated or Manual Collection as per our help doc. I encourage you to review that to familiarize yourself with both collection types as well as how they each work. 

If you are currently using an automated collection you will have to switch to a manual in order to prevent items from being added on their own. 

Note: 

Automatic collections cannot be converted to manual ones or vice versa - instead you will have to create a new collection that meets your criteria needs.
