How can topical relevance improve my e-commerce collection page rankings?

Hi!

I have an ecommerce site for which I am doing SEO. I want to rank my e-commerce collection pages with low SD on top. Aprt from doing other things, I found this concept of topical relevance. For that I have written 3 articles around that collection and linked to the collection. The keyword was not ranking on page 1 for months so I did this. Thecollection is "board games in Pakistan" and artciels are"best board games", 90's board games, etc.

Is it worth the effort? Will my results improve as I have done more than my competitors, they don't have a single article?
