How do you modify onclick attributes for tracking outbound links?

Has anyone modified the onclick attributes of a link so that i can track outbound links through GA4? Here's the GA support document I'm following: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1136920?hl=en#zippy=%2Cin-this-article And the step I'm struggling with: You'll also need to add (or modify) the onclick attribute to your links.
