How to add clickable/expandable tooltips or feature callouts on photos?

Hi Shopify Community and support partners!

I am looking to add feature callout buttons that expand a description near the specific feature when clicked. A solid solution exists on the Blenderbottle.com and IceShaker.com Shopify websites. These are linked and shown below in the pictures. The clickable buttons have expanding and contracting "halos" around them to show the user they are interactive (visit the sites to see this).

Can someone share the code to add, where to add it, and explain how to position the buttons and text boxes correctly? I have the DAWN theme for my store.
