Hi everybody
Google Merchant complains about a few of our own products, because they don't have a barcode.
But the products have MPN number which I must have added to the product. The problem is that some of our own products are available in several sizes, but I can only add the MPN number to a single product through the Google Shopping app. How can I add the mpn number to both variants?

This is an accepted solution.
For Google Shopping, even if it states in the documentation that you can add Brand + MPN, it is in most cases not accepted.
The correct settings is if you have bar codes to submit GTIN, MPN, Brand and set identifier exists to yes
If you do not have bar codes to not submit GTIN, MPN or brand and set identifier exists to no
The easiest way is to use feed rules in Google Merchant Center to set it all to clear and set identifier exists to no. Then you have correctly setup the product identifiers. More info:

Hi you can see
our products here. https://www.homebarista.dk/collections/bentax-risteri/products/guatemala-la-serrania-pacamara-espres...
For custom products, remove the value Brand, MPN and GTIN, then set identifier exists to no
There should be an option to switch the product to do not have product identifiers. Under products > more actions > google shopping.
Hope this helps.
Hey.
The some of the custom products that don't have a variant has been fixed by being assigned their MPN number and then marked as a custom product. Wich maid them disapear as a problem i GMC.
But the products with different size variants. Here i cant do the sam trick, because the Google Shopping App is not accesible with in the variant product, so that i can assign the size variant's own MPN number in the Google Shopping App.
You can not assign random data. All product identifiers need to be 100% correct.
If you don't have a valid bar code or MPN assigned by the manufacturer, then do not use it. And set your products to be custom.
If you do not follow Google Shopping guidelines, your product ranking will drop and your performance will lower.

Hi
I am not sure the feedarmy feed tool, is what i need for this problem. But it does looks interesting.
The MPN number I am trying to add to the variant products is our own MPN number for the coffee we roast and sell in our online coffee shop.
We do not have a Gtin number for the products we manufacture, because they are only sold from our shops.
We have different MPN numbers for the variant products fx. Bentax All Day Blend 250g Mpn 42028 and Bentax All Day Blend 1000g - mpn 42026.
These are the numbers that I would like to add to the product variant. But I can only add the mpn number on the product's Mainpage, and not on the product variant page, here I can only add SKU and Gtin number. And i hope by adding the mpn number for our custom product, i can get rid of the problems Merchant center is complaining about with missing Gtin, mpn or missing brand.
The Image is of the inventory settings on the variant page.

The problem exists with the relationship between Shopify, Google & the Google Channel app. Google wrote the interface & basically it DOS NOT WORK with Variants & you will get referred to Google by Shopify & visa versa & neither multi-national Corporation can or is prepared to help.
You CANNOT ADD unique variant MPNs although you can add variant Barcodes.
There is NO WAY AROUND THIS .. the GOOGLE CHANNEL APP DOES NOT WORK WITH VARIANTS with MPNs & BARCODES.
And the other issue is the interface does not make the Google field ... identifier_exists ... available, so you cant set that to NO as per some Google instructions.
I spent three hours trying to work with Shopify Chat ... and bottom line, they told me to get the "Feed For Google Shopping" App @ $4.99 per month.
Seems pretty ridiculous that a platform that is supposed to be for Merchants DOES NOT HAVE THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR GOOGLE SHOPPING ... kinda wonder if Shopify is FIT FOR PURPOSE to use Australian legalese.
big up à vous
I am going to step in and put my two cents- self-taught over 10 years and I can assure you that all of the fields Google requires WORK if you have the data. Variants have their own barcode, that is correct- but the MPN may OR MAY NOT BE UNIQUE to each 'Variant'... You could have 10 variants off of a master product, but if the manufacturer has assigned them all the same MPN, then they would all have the same MPN. Point is, if you have the data, supply it- if you don't, don't. Never fake your way through things or lie- Google is a GIANT INDEX OF GLOBAL DATA- if you don't match consensus, you get PENALIZED.
@sbiar your response is spot on ^^^^^^
I keep reading about solutions and they arent solutions. Shopify lets you enter multiple MPNs for different variants of each produ ct. When you try to do it for the google MPN setting it only allows you to enter ONE. The only way around this is to literally create 100s and 100s of products in order to assign correct MPNs. I've tried every feed rule and there is simply no way around it other than creating individual products for every variant of every product.
Hey everyone, I managed to add some rules into my products via the Google Merchant Center (https://merchants.google.com/mc/products) and majority of my items have now been approved. Here is a screenshot if it helps you:
Can you clarify. When I go under the product- go to more actions- google fields . I do not have an option of setting my custom product to no. I have checked custom product and left the MPN blank and it has been disapproved. Do I need to put "no" in the MPN field? Thank you. I am trying to clear up all my issues so I can run Google Ads.
The free APP you are using does not support this function.
Also the rules have just changed, and I recommend you read: https://feedarmy.com/kb/fix-limited-performance-due-to-missing-value-gtin-in-google-merchant-center/
I recommend you use feed rules to resolve the issue instead of using the free app setup as it will not work.

Hi I'm having trouble with my Google merchant acct. Said its suspended and all products not published. Asking for gtin or mpn but its marked custom product. Cant find gtin or mpn. Can you please help me?
If you don't have barcodes, and you have set identifier exists to no and removed the values brand, mpn and gtin. Then nothing can be done to resolve limited performance and you have to accept the results.
If the manufacturer has not assigned a barcode, and you want to improve the performance, contact your manufacturer and ask them to add GS1 barcodes. If they refuse, then simply explain to them that this may result in lower sales.
