My website has English as default language and I am using the Translation Labs app to translate the products in Swedish. That is why I have selected English as primary language in the settings section of Google sales channel:
I have successfully created a feed via the same settings in Merchant Center and it includes all the products. So far everything looks fine but the problem is, how do I include the translated Swedish content in product feed as well?
Right now my products do not show up in Swedish results for shopping. Only when a user uses English phrases, some free or paid shopping ads come up but absolutely no sign of Swedish content. When I check my product feed in Merchant Center, it is as the image below:
As you can see, despite the translations being on, the number of products in second language is zero. I thought of creating a second feed and see if I can fix it on the secondary language but apparently there could be only one API integration of product feed at the time. Supplementary feed generated by crawling does not work either because the default view is on English.
I know there are apps to fix this but I don't want to pay as well as inflate my websites code with multiple apps and reduce the speed. Looking for an organic way to fix this so hit me with your best answer!
Thanks in advance.
If you don't want to pay, I don't see any solution, other than manually creating a spreadsheet with all the data, however, creating feeds manually will put you at risk of inaccuracies for pricing and availability between the feed and the website. When you use an app, it automatically updates the info whenever you have changed it.
If you want to create a feed manually: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/160588?hl=en
For my clients I use https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds
This app allows you to pull the translated data from translation labs and add it to your feed.
@EmmanuelFlossie thanks for the reply.
If some apps can do this, it means there is a way for automatizing the process. It's not like the apps extract a spreadsheet and upload it to Google's MC. Right?
That is what I am after to understand how or where we can inject the translated data to the product feed. There is a language option already so in product feed's database there should be some fields and tables reserved for the job. Otherwise even the apps couldn't have done it.
The question is how to open those fields and write data in?
(nice indirect marketing by the way!)
Apps use Shopify API. So if you are planning to build your own solution, best to ask Shopify for support. I, unfortunately, do not know how to do that.
Can you send a Feed in the same market in both language, example Canada (French) , Canada (English) ? And if you use the Google & Youtube App for the current Default feed (english) , do you need to remove that one and do it all from the app?
Yes, you can target 1 country multiple times with multiple languages, and yes that means you can send multiple feeds. And you can also indeed keep using the google and youtube app for your main language, and use multifeeds for another.
However as the multifeeds is so advanced in tools, I always migrate everything over. This to have just 1 app to manage everything.
