Re: a discount on the second product

Solved

How to apply a 50% discount on the second product in the same category?

Friends, hello!
How can I implement a discount on the second product of the same category? For example, there is a category "swimwear". And when buying one swimsuit, any second swimsuit is 50% off?

Hi @Tony_chef,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with setting up a Buy X, Get Y discount, to get this resolved.

As mentioned by @MarinaPetrovic, an Automatic Discount will provide customers the ability to receive a second swimsuit at 50% off, but can also look to utilizing a Discount Code. To set up a Buy X, Get Y, I recommend checking out our Discounts Documentation as it touches on how to create this.

It outlines, you can:

  • Head to the Discounts section within the Shopify admin.
  • From the Discounts page, click Create discount.

  • In the Discount code section, enter a name for the new discount code, for example, buyonegetonefree. To generate a random discount code, click Generate code.

  • In the Types section, select Buy X Get Y.

  • In the Customer buys section, configure the following settings.

    • Choose Minimum quantity of items or Minimum purchase amount.
    • Set the number of items that the customer must buy or the amount of money that the customer must spend to be eligible for the discount.
    • In the Any items from section, choose whether you want to include products or collections as the qualifying items.
    • Use the search field or the Browse button to add products or collections to the promotion. If you want to remove a product or collection from the discount, then click X to delete it from the list.
  • In the Customer gets section, configure the following settings.

    • Set the quantity of items that the customer must add to their cart to get the discount.
    • In the Any items from section, choose whether you want to include products or collections as the discounted items. If the product or collection is the same as the one set in the Customer buys section, then the lower-priced item that the customer chooses is the item that the customer gets at a discount.
    • Use the search field or the Browse button to add products or collections. If you want to remove a product or collection, then click X to delete it from the list.
    • In the At a discounted value section, choose the discounted value that customers receive when they buy the set number of items. If you want to offer a percentage discount, then select Percentage and enter a rate. If you want to offer items for free, then select Free.
  • In the Customer eligibility section, select who this discount applies to: everyone, specific customer segments, or specific customers.

  • If you want to limit discount usage, then check one of the options in the Usage limits section.

  • In the Active dates section, configure when you'd like the discount to become available.

  • Click Save discount code.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. However, I get stuck on the step: "In the Types section, select Buy X Get Y." I don't seem to have a METHODS section when I create a discount. Has this feature been removed?

I guess I would be remiss if I didn't mention my store: https://nerdchicboutique.com/ Pop culture-infused fashion for gentlemen. Always free shipping.

Why? In the "Discounts" section, click the "Create discount" button

A window immediately pops up asking you to select the discount method you would like to create.

Thank you. I was trying to edit an existing discount. My mistake and your screenshot helped.
