Hey @plantsworld
Welcome to the Shopify Community! I can see this is your very first post - you are most welcome here.
I understand that you are considering changing your theme to a paid one, and are wondering what sort of things you should be aware of - I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction here. Just so you know, we have some great resources available on our help center covering various theme related topics including updating and changing themes - I would highly recommend checking these out.
Changing/upgrading your theme can sometimes be a complex process, but once you understand the steps involved it is certainly manageable. First of all, have you considered whether or not your current theme meets your needs before deciding to move to a new theme? I had a look at your store and it is obvious you have put a lot of work into it, well done! Are there certain things you need that your current theme cannot do maybe?
Changing your theme does not affect the other parts of your Shopify admin such as your products & navigation, so you can feel free to try different theme styles and settings all without worrying about the rest of the content in your admin. You could even install some other themes using the 'Try Theme' button on the Theme Store pages to see how they look before committing to purchasing them. That way, you can work on your new theme in the theme library and spend some time on it before publishing it as your live theme.
You mentioned apps & payment gateways - certain apps may not be compatible with Online Store 2.0 themes, so if you are concerned about this then I would suggest referring to the app's documentation or contacting the app developers directly to inquire about this. They can also advise on the procedure for moving over to a new theme.
Something you might find useful is this third party guide by Shogun that talks about changing themes whilst keeping everything intact. Keep in mind that it is completely external to us, so proceed with caution if you decide to follow any instructions in it.
