How to delay auto-fulfillment for physical SKUs with digital attachments?

I have an SKU set up in Shopify that has a digital attachment.  When the order is placed the order is automatically fulfilled before the physical version can ship.  I want to leave the order unfulfilled until the physical copy is sent.
