How to disable add to cart button for x seconds

In Dawn theme, I'd like to disable my add to cart button for 3 seconds on product pages to allow time for the rest of the page and apps to load. I have an app for customized product options but currently the add to cart button can be selected before they have loaded.

Is it possible to maybe grey out the add to cart or change the text to "loading.." until 3 seconds has passed and then enable it?

Yes it's possible you can use the timeout function. 

And to make the button gray, you need to  do the logic inside the function.
