How to fix GA4 double counting conversions issue?

I've been successfully using GTM to handle all of my GA4 work but recently the GA4 auto tracking tags were somehow installed on my store. It is now causing GA4 to double count all conversions and likely additional data. I do not know how to fully remove he GA4 tracking script - has anyone encountered this before with any guidance on how to remove this so that I can go back to my original GTM-only set up? thanks in advance.
