How to make top tier nested menu clickable?

Hi guys 

Im a complete noob but I am learning as I build. I have built a simple structured dropdown menu (nested menu)

>kits

     >by brand

                >(brand names)

     >by type

                >(kit types)

My problem is I would like the top level menu item (kits) to allow me to click on the text and link to my 'all kits' collection and click the arrow to open up the next tier.

At the moment the sub-menu opens if I click on the text or the arrow. This happens on desktop and mobile even though I created the 'kits' menu with a link to my collection.

Can somebody please help.
