Liquid, JavaScript, themes, sales channels
I have encountered an issue with my collection pages on Shopify that I require assistance with. The problem revolves around the default collection page URL and the collection page URL with the "?page=1" parameter. Both of these pages share certain content elements, including the title, h1 heading, and metafield description.
I am in need of guidance on how to address this issue effectively. What is the best approach to resolve the problem of having identical URLs and similar content on these two collection pages? Are there any best practices I can implement to prevent content duplication and ensure that my SEO remains optimal?
Your assistance is highly appreciated, and I am seeking advice from the Shopify community on how to resolve this matter. Thank you in advance for your help!

That's first page of a collection in both cases.
They should be the same exact content not just sharing "certain" elements and it's questionable whether it matters when pagination is involved, seek a specialist.
If they do not share the exact same content then they are different pages canonically and should be indexed as separate content.
The ?page=1 parameter should be irrelevant as long as no canonical tags are being improperly used by the theme for each page in the pagination.

Alternatively point the collection landing page canonical url to the 1st pagination page ?page=1 or vice versa.
Keeping in mind things like sorting and filters, etc.

Hello Killyss,
Thanks for reaching out to the community!
Duplicate content in the pagination is a common issue. Let’s understand it by an example:
If you visit page 1 of the product page, then move to page 2, and then go back to page 1, then the following URL sequence will be created:
store.com/collections/products > store.com/collections/products?page=2 > store.com/collections/product?page=1
Here, the content from the first URL shall be duplicated in the last URL.
The simple solution is to remove ‘?page=1’ from the last URL or make use of the ‘canonical’ tag to avoid the search engine crawlers following and indexing that URL.
Hope it helps!
