How to safely update enterprise theme with out compromising coding.

Hi there, 

New to Shopify had a previous web development company working on our site for the beginning build of it so dont know whether there was coding done by them. Currently updated our theme and it states that we could lose coding during the update is there a way that I am able to check this, and what further steps should I take if so?

Hi @jess-bioflame !

There is no problem if you are going to update your theme because, either way, you will still have copy of your original theme which includes all the original edited or added theme codings. Here is a screenshot for example so, you can have a better view of what would happen if you updated your theme. You will have the original copy of your theme and the newly updated one.
