how to search inside the "edit code" window for my theme (warehouse)

Okay, I'm new. I hunted around trying to find the answer. I have an app that requires I add a snippet of code into the product-template.liquid code window. I was trying to follow a tutorial.

However.. the tutorial shows the user somehow, magically creating a search field for his/her self and they type in "endform".

This has stopped me cold. There is no search bar in my window. Is there some sort of secret keyboard combo that all you techies type in to search code? command s will just save the page. clicking around in a panic doesn't make a search bar show up either.

I'm using WareHouse and the app i'm trying to install is "Product Addon" by SpiceGems.

thank you for your advice.

Hi, @APG-David!

I'm Miles from the Social Care team at Shopify.

To search your code for specific text, you can use the keyboard command "command + F" on a Mac, or "CTRL + F" on a PC. This will bring up a search function in the top right hand side of the code you're searching. A search function isn't available for the mobile app at this time.

If you're ever having trouble with coding, we do have a guide to help you out: https://bit.ly/3bPQQQg. This will take you through customizations you can do. If you need further help with the theme, your theme developer may also be able to help. In your theme editor, click theme settings to view your theme developer and a link to their support page. Shopify's free themes can also be supported by our Shopify Support team.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all.

Thanks!

Thank you so much! Such a simple thing. Something that I'm sure most of you all never even think about anymore. I appreciate your help and patience.

Its honestly really silly that the search box isn't there all the time. I use this feature frequently and always forget. I have no association with "control F" and I even think at one point it was the space bar that made it appear... either way it shouldn't be so hard.

yep. It's one of those "secret" things that only coders know haha. You are now part of the inner circle. You'll get your "secret society "pointy hat in the mail along with a notification of your monthly fees and dues.  But seriously, after you use "command-f" a few times.. you'll never forget it. It becomes an afterthought. I honestly think thats why people forget to explain how to do in-code searches. We all just.. "do it". It's like riding a bike. People just don't think about it anymore.

Miles, you answered a question to the same problem i was looking for.  I did the ctrl-f and there it was right in my code editor.  What you have told David helped me as well.  With a noble and humble thank you
