How to set customer metafields from registration form

Hi,

Is it possible to change the value of metafield from the registration form? I want to add in gender field on the registration form, which will be filled by the customer, and the value will be stored in a  metafield.

Any idea please ?

Anybody? How could there be meta fields with no ability to add them to the registration form? Makes zero sense. Come on, Shopify.
