How to transition a paid theme to a new domain while keeping the old one active?

Hi everyone,

I currently have a shopify website with a paid theme. Recently I decided to change the name of my brand and therefor a new domain name. 

I already want to build the new shopify store while having my old domain still online and being able to shop on there. Once the whole new website and rebranding is ready, I want to switch over my current shopify subscription + theme (since it's a paid one). 

Does anyone have an idea how I could work on the new website and switch over everything once its ready?

Hi @colinrw ,

There a few ways you can achieve this:

1. Duplicate your current live theme and make your changes on this theme and publish when when you ready.
2. Create a development (requires Shopify Partner / Plus account) store make edits to this store, then either copy the changes over to your live store or publish the dev store as your new live store.
