Images displaying different sizes on Website

Hello,

Our images are displaying different sizes on our website despite being uploaded and sized the same. ( see attachments ). It does not appear to be the file size or the aspect ratio, as I've uploaded a variety of different sizes of the same image and nothing changes. There must be some setting that's dictating how it's being cropped.

Could you please advise?

Hey @JSan!

Which theme are you using?

It's possible that the issue you're experiencing with your images is due to Shopify's automatic image resizing and cropping feature. When you upload an image, it is automatically resized and cropped to fit the specific dimensions of the product page or collection page where it will be displayed. Depending on the size and aspect ratio of your original image, this automatic cropping can result in images appearing differently sized or cropped on different pages.

To address this, you can try adjusting the image dimensions and aspect ratio to match the recommended sizes for your specific theme. You can also consider using an app or plugin to help optimize your images for Shopify's automatic resizing and cropping.

Additionally, you can review the guidelines for image optimization to ensure that your images are properly formatted and optimized for web display. This can help improve the consistency and quality of your images across your website.

Hello Moira-

The theme we are using is Prestige Version 1.1.2.

I upload in bulk using a CSV file and all of the images are cropped and
exported with the same exact settings.

Just to confirm what are the recommended sizes for the Prestige theme?

1800 x 1800 , 4.1 MB , and a 1x1 aspect ratio? Ive been cropping at a 4:5
ratio.

Please advise,
Thank you

Prestige will work with any image size. However, for the best results (both in terms of performance and quality), we recommend the following image dimensions:

  • Blog post featured image: 1800x1000, in JPG format. The image's point of interest should be in the middle, as this image will be automatically resized and cut off based on the screen size.
  • Collection images: 1800x1000, in JPG format. The image's point of interest should be in the middle, as this image will be automatically resized and cut off based on the screen size.
  • Product image: there is no recommended size, as it all depends on how you'd like to showcase your products. It could be square images, horizontal images or vertical images. The recommendation though is trying to stay consistent, using JPG format, and upload images that are as large as possible to give the theme enough flexibility to choose the correct size based on device. For instance, if you are using squared images, you could upload something like 1800x1800. If you are using vertical images, something like 1200x1700 can work well.
