Hello!
I run a handmade jewelry business and I offer both ear piercing and clip-on adjustments to earrings to cater to those with ear piercings and those without.
I've been using a made-to-order model in my store. I would have 2 variants for earrings, a regular ear piercing finding, and a clip-on finding variant. This worked out well for me because I would just make a set amount of earrings based on the orders I received.
But recently, I would like to switch to just having a set inventory of my earrings ready to be shipped. This is where my problem begins. I want to be able to adjust the finding on the earring based on what the person ordered. But by having 2 variants, it creates 2 different inventories for the product. I would just like it so both the regular ear piercing + clip on finding sync from the same batch of earrings I created, that way I can just adjust the finding based on what the person chose. I was wondering how I could accomplish this? Thanks!

Hi @veebie,
It seems like you want both regular ear piercing and clip-on options to come from the same batch of earrings, allowing you to adjust the finding based on the customer's preference.
If that's the case, I have a simple solution for your store. Instead of treating regular ear piercing and clip-on as 2 separate variants in Shopify, you can use the Easify Product Options app (free plan available) to create them as custom options within the app. This way, you can set the overall inventory for your product without specifying separate inventories for each variant 🤗.
Here's a demo:
Hi @veebie Your description is hard to follow as it isn't very step by step , also had to find out what a "finding" is for that industry.
It can massively help to first describe the problem in general terms:
I have product A and product B with variants C & D, etc etc and need X behavior; then describe specifics and background.
So I have to make some assumptions about what and why needs syncing.

To sync inventory, or locations, there are TONS of inventory sync apps available on the app store.
There's usemechanic https://apps.shopify.com/mechanic
Example task https://tasks.mechanic.dev/?tags=Sync
Though it can be scripted for custom scenarios needing specific business logic.
Note: shopify-flow does not currently have an inventory sync action but it has a very advanced send-http-request action.
Another option now is to use bundling apps and create a UI for the assembled earring to be added to the cart as a bundled line-item(s).
That way each piece is a standalone product with singular inventory.
This may require theme customizations.
Or without any apps make each part a standalone product, and customize the theme to put them all in the cart at the same time when the main product is added, and present them as a single item when adding to the cart. Though either in the cart, or in the order notifications they will be represented as stand alone items depending on level of customizations , with checkout not being customizable.

It seems like you can make use of the bundle app. There is a Free bundle app by Shopify. Click it out here https://apps.shopify.com/shopify-bundles.
