Is cookie consent required for Storefront API usage in the EU?

Hi, I'm looking to integrate Shopify into a Next.js website using the Storefront API. Is it necessary to get cookie consent in the EU before using the Storefront API?

We will use the Storefront API for managing a cart but for the checkout we will redirect to Shopify pages.
