Is it possible to add an auto-number to a variant?

 I am using Zepto Product Personalizer with a quantity discount app.  I have tried many of them and sought help for the app developers but I can’t get any of the discount apps to recognize when the same product is added to the cart multiple times with different Zepto customizations.  I have found that if a variant outside of the Zepto Product Personalizer, for example “Size” is chosen then the discount app will treat the two versions of the product as two products.   

My thought is, if I can have a hidden auto populated number in a variant then the discounts will apply correctly.  Is this possible?

I can't figure out how to set the variant option type to Text.  I can setup a text option but I need a unique variant id for this idea to work.

What custom options you set up with the product personalizer app and what kind of discount rules you're looking to apply?
