hey everyone, I am starting a dropshipping store in Azerbaijan but the services for a payment provider is terrible I tried each and every one of them but I couldn’t create an account and now I want to convert to a foreign account to use Shopify personal provider and if anybody has any tips I would be very much appreciated and also if anybody could tell me if there is going to be Shopify payments available in Azerbaijan
Hi @Farhad2
Thanks for reaching out here for help. I see you are a new member here, you are very welcome.
I understand that you are based in Azerbaijan and are starting a dropshipping business on Shopify. That is great to hear! I'd like to suggest this guide to dropshipping as a great resource to check out whenever you have some spare time.
I can see that you have tried to find a payment provider for your store but experienced difficulties in doing so - I am sorry to hear about this. Shopify Payments is not currently available in Azerbaijan, so you would need to consider using a third-party payment gateway listed on this resource here. Feel free to have a browse through that page to see what payment gateways are available in your region.
Most payment providers will likely require documentation, business verification, and various other compliance checks. Some payment providers may also have restrictions on certain countries or industries like dropshipping, which I understand can limit your options and make it harder to find a suitable provider.
As these gateways are external to us, we have no control over their application process, or their terms and conditions for merchants to open accounts. I would suggest contacting the payment provider directly to express your concerns and to see if there's anything they can do to assist with your business.
You were wondering if you can use a foreign account in order to avail of payment providers in other regions. This may be possible for some payment providers, however you would likely still need supporting documentation that your business is actually operating in that region (this is true for Shopify Payments - basically your business would need to have operations in the region you wish to use). It would be best to check in with any other payment provider you wish to use, so that they can advise on this also.

Than you, Rick you have been extremely helpful to me but there is one more question I would love to know is whether Shopify payments will be available in Azerbaijan in the near future
Hi there, @Farhad2. Thanks for following up on this thread! I'm jumping in in place of Rick. It's good to meet you!
It's awesome to see Rick was able to help you out here! I just wanted to make sure that you did have the chance to review our supported gateways for businesses operating out of Azerbaijan. I'm sure there's a solid option here for you to use!
We're always working hard to get the Shopify Payments product out there to as many folks as possible, and we know that there are many regions all over the world that would like to use the product! At this time, I can't share with you a timeline on when Azerbaijan will become a supported region for Shopify Payments, but you can trust that our team is doing what they can do bring Shopify Payments to folks all over the world!
