Is there a way to change/hard-code the UPLOAD DATE of a product?

We have products that do not sort correctly on the website when you sort by "Date: newest to oldest" because the listings were created in the admin page long before their actual live launch date. How can I edit the creation date of existing products? Can it be done by code and how?
