You need to work on following points 

• Theme Upgrade if there is a scope and upgraded theme available
• Reduce JS Payload.
• Use Critical CSS .
• Reduce Large Image Sizes
• Compress Images
• Limit Third Party JavaScript & Shopify Apps
• Preload Web Fonts. 
• I would suggest limiting to one and using a standard web font.

3rd party apps & codes which take time to load and their size . They decrease the speed.

See where exactly google speed index tools want you to target your code to optimize the site .

By fixing these issues, your website speed can definitely improve.

How does one do a theme upgrade? Just received a mail that there's an update available

Hi @SoleArt Theme can be upgraded by simply downloading new theme and implementing it on your store. If its a shopify theme then you can directly implement on the store.

If you have any custom code in the current theme than you will need to manually make those updates first as all custom code will be lost when you implement the new theme.

Updates can be first made on a preview theme or a sandbox shopify account.

I loaded up your store URL of stephues.com, and it appears that your store is loading OK for me, and I don't see anything stuck as you described. Can you confirm the name of the theme that you are using on your store?

Yesterday we did have a minor outage, that affected the loading of images and other assets on certain stores, however as you can see on the Shopify Status page here, there are no current issues affecting stores. If you are still experiencing this issue on your setup, then I would recommend clearing your browser cache & cookies, and testing it on other devices to see if the issue persists. Let me know if it is still happening, and we can troubleshoot further.

You asked about a theme upgrade in your followup reply. Updating the theme on your Shopify store is generally a good idea, as updated versions of themes usually include new features and design enhancements. As well as this, things like bug fixes, security updates, compatibility improvements, new design elements and search engine optimizations are all benefits that theme developers can include in updates.
