Hey guys, I'm not really sure what's happened here, but my site has suddenly slowed right down. I've not made any changes that would have affected this, no new images, no additional apps or sections to the home page.
The report doesn't really give any information either. Is there a way I can audit my site and find out what is causing this?
My site is https://oliviamichaelcandle.co
Thanks,
Rosalind.
Hello. Do you have a lot of apps installed? Sometimes the extra coding from apps can slow your website down as well. I recommend going to
https://pagespeed.web.dev and put your url in it will then do an analysis and tell you what is making your website slow down.
Hey @ChristinaA thank you for the reply.
I have barely any apps installed, just the minimum in fact. You can see here under events that actually, nothing in terms of apps being installed or uninstalled has changed.
I will try the link you posted and see what comes back.
So it turns out it's just the mobile which is a bit slow, and this stuff is nothing I can control, I believe?
Okay I think something is broken with this theme or something I have done has made it slow down.
I deleted a couple of apps and removed unused blocks from all the pages and it is now even slower.
To my absolute surprise, when I went in to 'edit code', despite me having removed unused code blocks from the theme editor, the code was still in the theme in the back end. Who on earth decided that this was a good thing to do!?
So now I have to go through all the code (without knowing what I'm doing) and I'm going to have to try to find things I've added through the theme editor and since removed and delete them there, too. Madness.
Anyone from Shopify able to help here or confirm why this happens?
Hello. Oh no You probably removed something that was not supposed to be removed Myself or someone else would need to go back in and see what the problem is you are now having. I always advise my clients to seek help especially if they are not familiar with coding and the backend of things.
I didn't manually remove anything, just uninstalled apps using the button. I've resized all my images, removed all apps I'm not using and did a bunch of other changes and on Google it shows the speed as twice as fast now, but the shopify score is still stuck at 33 so I'll ignore that.
