Overlaying images while using a theme (Dawn v15.2.0)

My client uses a custom-made font for their brand. The font is only used for specific things, such as their logo and the name of the collection they recently released.

They want the images to be overlaid over a background image as if they were text (because they are). I worked with Shopify Support who informed me that because we are using a theme (Dawn 15.2.0), overlaying images is not allowed out of the box and will require custom development.

I'm a software engineer, but I don't have experience working with Liquid/Shopify. And any tutorials I try to look up try SO HARD to point me AWAY from a custom code solution. So I could either use some direct help with this problem or a link to a decent tutorial where I can learn more about how to actually do this.

Have you try to use photoshop and add text with this font to image?
