I am trying to increase my site speed with PageSpeed Insights, it asked me to check validity to a url which I have no idea whats the problem and how to fix it. it was myproduct url with ?_fd=0 attached to the end.

this url with ?_fd=0 attached to the end somehow opens the same webpage to myproduct url

any idea what this is and how I can fix the validity of this url which I have no idea where it comes from

Hello @JudithAY,

It's possible that this parameter is used by a third-party app or script installed on your Shopify store.

To investigate further and resolve any issues related to this parameter, you can follow the below steps or connect with our team of Shopify experts with your store URL and password, who can help you resolve this.

  1. Review the installed apps and scripts on your Shopify store to determine which one might add the "?_fd=0" parameter to your product URLs. Check if these apps or scripts are responsible for tracking or caching functionalities.
  2. Once you have identified the potential app or script causing the issue, contact the developer for support. Describe the problem you are facing and ask if the "?_fd=0" parameter is related to their app or script. They should be able to guide how to handle the parameter correctly or disable it if necessary.
  3. If you have made custom modifications to your Shopify theme, review the theme files (especially the liquid templates) to see if any code is appending the "?_fd=0" parameter to your URLs. Remove or modify this code if it is causing any issues.
  4. Then, test your website's speed using PageSpeed Insights again to see if the parameter issue has been resolved. Monitor your website's performance and behavior to ensure no adverse side effects from removing or modifying the "?_fd=0" parameter.

Though, site speed involves multiple factors, such as optimizing images, reducing server response time, leveraging browser caching, and minimizing the use of external resources.

Addressing these aspects alongside the specific parameter issue will help you achieve better performance for your Shopify store.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further help with your page speed and performance.

Regards,
