POS Terminal Countertop Kit for USB-C tablets (with the Connection Hub)

Can you tell me if the POS Terminal Countertop Kit for USB-C tablets (with the Connection Hub) will work with reducing or eliminating Bluetooth and Wireless connections.  https://www.shopify.com/pos/store/products/usb-c-countertop-kit-retail. My goal is not to use wireless connectivity including Bluetooth. The Tap and Chip Bluetooth has not been reliable and I have followed all of the Shopify recommendations.

It appears the Connection Hub will provide an Ethernet connection for the iPad. The POS Go Dock has an Ethernet connection, will this provide hard wired communication between the POS Go card reader and  iPad as apposed to a Bluetooth pairing scenario?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't have the answer but I am looking for the same information. I am moving over from Square and I absolutely try my hardest to avoid bluetooth or wifi connectivity for critical items. I can't seem to find much info on it, but when I ask how people like/dislike their Shopify POS a lot of the negatives seem to do with connection issues between the tablet and the tap and chip units.
I hope you get some answers.

Hello Jmans,

I have the exact same question and have seen totally unclear answers from Shopify staff and others.  They say just plug in the ethernet cable to the Go Dock without any detailed explanation which does not answer the question, nor does it help anyone.

There are two devices hardwired together via a USB connection (the iPad cradled in its POS stand and the Go cradled in its dock) AND with the additional Connection Hub plugged into the USB port on the iPad POS stand, there are now TWO ethernet ports available (one on the Go Dock and one on the Connection HUB).  From my tests (plugging an ethernet cable from the router into the Go Dock), the ethernet port on the Go Dock does nothing to provide a hardwired Internet connection for the iPad (and its Safari, Shopify POS app, and any other apps needing the Internet).  It does NOT pass the Internet connection through the USB wired connection between those two devices. So, what does that ethernet port on the Go Dock provide??

Further testing with the Connection Hub connected to the POS Stand and the ethernet cable connected to it from the router (no ethernet cable into Go Dock), the iPad now has hardwired Internet connectivity (Wifi is OFF on iPad).  Since the GO with Dock is connected to the POS stand with iPad via the USB hardwire, AND the WiFi is turned OFF on the iPad, it seems now I am NOT using or relying on both Wifi and Bluetooth.  Which is what you and I want.  But, again, what does the ethernet port on the Go Dock do for us as it does NOT pass the Internet connection through to the iPad on its POS dock?

Can someone please clarify for all of us out there who would like to have a stable and reliable connection for countertop selling?  It would be great to see diagrams of various connection options for these devices with clear explanations and reasoning. Thanks!
