Product pictures

Hi everyone,

the issue is that I have a showcase of product pictures on the homepage, but on the product page the pictures are zoomed in and lose their quality. Is there a way to post different product pictures to the homepage and product pages? Also, if someone could help me with the best picture sizes, that would help a lot.

Thanks for your question. That doesn’t sound good, let’s work together to make sure that your images look good on your products. 

I have some questions to start:

1. When your product images are zoomed in, are they zoomed in by default when you go to your store, or are you zooming into them a different way? Do you have an example that you can share? I would love to take a closer look.
   
   
2. What formats are your images? We have a help doc with a list of image formats that you can learn more about here: Uploading images. Shopify supports JPEG or JPG, Progressive JPEG, PNG and GIF image formats and serves images in WebP format on supported browsers. Shopify will only convert unsupported image formats to supported ones, and doesn’t modify your images when they are uploaded. If you upload an image that is not a supported format, then Shopify converts it to either JPEG or PNG. Most image formats are converted to JPEG.
   
   
3. Is this happening on all of your product images, or only some? 

For your question on image sizes, we typically recommend uploading images at 2048 x 2048 pixels for square images, but you can upload images up to 4472 x 4472 pixels and up to 20MB on Shopify. Check out our blog post with a rundown of saving your images for the web.
