Providence theme will not show Social media icons in footer

Hi, I have just purchased the Providence theme and I am having trouble getting the social media icons to show.

I have gone to customize - Footer - Add block - Social media. Then I have clicked on Theme settings - Social media and then pasted my FaceBook and Twitter links in the correct boxes. But no social media icons are showing. Below are two images of the settings that don't seem to be working.  Any help would be great. Cheers

Please go to Actions > Edit code > theme.liquid file and add the code in the head tag. For example:

I just realised that i had to install a social media app on my shopify webpage. I thought that when I paid for a webpage template that the social media function would be included. Cheers

The existing theme supports this, you don't need to install the app, just add the code I showed first, and it will display fine.
