Hey.
So recently we all our PNG/JPEG image assets to WebP locally to save some space, the folder was getting enormous.
Now however. Every time I upload a theme. A completely arbitrary/random image goes missing.
Some times its one of the webps. Sometimes its SVGs, which I havent changed at all or touched.
I can upload and delete the same preview theme without making any code changes. And a different image will be gone the next time, while the one missing the previous time is back in. I can upload several preview themes at the same time with no code difference and they will have different missing images.
Im getting absolutely no decent help through support. Other than "its your codes". Something that does not add up to me. When I go through the support page for themes. It lists the live theme, my unpublished theme and the Development theme. The Development theme and the unpublished have no changes done between them. But the Development one works completely fine. No missing images.
I have had support refresh the frontend cache. But it doesnt seem to help.
I am really at a loss here and any assistance/ideas would be appreciated.
Best regards
I understand that you're experiencing issues with missing images in your Shopify theme after converting them to WebP format. Here are a few suggestions to help troubleshoot the problem:
Double-check your image file paths: Make sure that the file paths specified in your theme's code are accurate and match the locations of the images. Verify that the paths are correctly pointing to the WebP images and not the original PNG/JPEG files.
Clear theme cache: Shopify caches theme assets to improve performance. Sometimes, outdated or incorrect assets can be cached, causing issues. Try clearing the cache of your theme by going to "Online Store" > "Themes," then click on "Actions" > "Edit code" for your theme. From there, click on the "Theme settings" dropdown and select "Clear cache."
Check image file names: Ensure that the image file names are not conflicting with any other files in your theme or causing conflicts due to case sensitivity (e.g., image.jpg vs. Image.jpg). Make sure the image file names are unique and follow consistent naming conventions.
Re point 1: As I specified, this all works fine in dev mode, and as I did specify, its a different image on each upload. If I upload two themes. One will miss one image, and the other will have that image but miss another. So it is clearly not the paths.
Re part 2: I did say in the post that I have tried refreshing/clearing cache.
Re part 3: Again. It works in dev mode. Its random which image is gone, as i explained in point 1.
