Hi, My site is: theplanetjunior.com

I did a test on pingdom speed testing tool and it gave  me a D grade and I got an F for https requests. Can anyone guide me how to solve it and reduce https requests on my website. I compress images, reduce their size routinely. One solution which I saw on the internet was to merge CSS and js but I can't figure out, how to do it?

Please help on how to reduce https requests and merge CSS and js files? Will that be affective enough? I don't have broken links and too many apps on my website

Hi @planetjuniorseo

This is PageFly - Landing Page Builder. I would love to provide my recommendations for your store based on 7 years of providing solutions for about 150,000 active Shopify merchants.

An HTTP request is made when different parts of the page (images, stylesheets, scripts) being downloaded. The more on-page elements and styles, the longer it takes for the page to “read” the script (aka, to render). The first step to minimize the requests is to figure out how many that your site makes, to use as a point of reference.

If you use Google Chrome browser, you can use the browser’s Developer Tools to see how many HTTP requests your site makes.

We have a guide on this you can check it here https://pagefly.link/MXVzvaUP (and more tips on optimizing the page speed)

After that you can:

-Remove Unnecessary Apps / Add-ons

-Remove Images & Videos You Do Not Need

-Enable Lazy Load:“Lazy loading” means an image or video won’t load until the user begins scrolling down your webpage. Since the media doesn’t load right away, it won’t trigger an HTTP request for the initial page load.

You can check this guide from Shopify to implement Lazy loading for your store or using PageFly as page builder, we have 1-click enable Lazy loading for pages built with PageFly.

Reduce Third-Party Requests: You can reduce the content that is pulled from another source like Youtube as the content loading depends on theirs.

Besides, there're tools that can help you on minifying CSS and JS files like CSS Minifier  , JS Minifier

I opened your store on my laptop and my phone, and I can say the overall experience is good. The home page doesn't take long time to load, but the easiest way to increase page speed that you can do very quickly is to reduce the page content, instead include CTA buttons to lead people to other pages on your store.

Above is my suggestions for you, hope you will have a good solution to the speed issue and make great sales in the upcoming months.

I also hope the suggestions will help you solve the problem. If you think they do help, please let me know by giving it a Like. Thank you!
