Has the ability to count our online store sessions changed?  Has there been a change in the ability to report the visitors to the store?  Has anything changed in the last 4 months?

We have been steady at around 18k session per  months for the past 12 months.  But in the past 3 months we have decline to 17k, 13k then 6k.  And this current month is trending towards 6k again.

Our marketing company is advising that the traffic to our store is the same, but the sessions number are reporting as down due to a change in the tracking ability with cookies.  Is this accurate

Hi there, @MartinSt1. Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums with your analytics and traffic question! My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!

To set some expectations for you, we're unable to authenticate users or stores here in the Shopify Community. This means that I don't have access to your store, store analytics, or any other additional information related to your store. With that being said, there has not been any recent changes to how Shopify tracks sessions via Shopify Analytics. Drops in sessions are typically related to things like bot activity (or the lack thereof), third party integrations, or marketing campaigns.

If you suspect that there is an issue with how your Shopify Analytics is reporting sessions information in your admin, I recommend reaching out to our Authenticated Support Team via our Help Center so we can access your account and take a closer look. -Imogen
