Responsive size guide which generates a result from a data set based on a series of inputs from user

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice on how to implement an improved size guide for my shoelace store.

Essentially I want to be able to match customers with the exact shoelace size required for their specific shoe model based on the inputs they give to a series of questions.

The concept I have at the minute is to ask them a series of questions as shown in the photos below and then match them with a result from a database I have collated.

I have no idea where to begin with this project and I have minimal coding experience. I am willing to dedicate a significant amount of time and effort to developing this. Please give any advice, pointers or resources you may have no matter how brief or extensive. I just want to be pointed in the right direction. Additionally, if you think this project is going to be overly difficult for someone with limited coding experience please don't hesitate to be brutally honest and suggest any alternatives.

Hi @bskill 👋 Are you trying to run a business or become a web developer, just use any of the generic product-quiz apps, or hire someone.

Simple now , complex later: If the "database" is a small spreadsheet just build the questionnaire in a form-builder/landing page tool and put it in the theme in a custom-liquid or custom-html section/block.

After that #1 ask drastically smaller scoped questions.

Your effectively asking how to fully implement a feature end to end in incredible vague terms so every answer would also end up being vague wasting a lot of human life-time.

If you don't know how to connect the data to a frontend, build the quiz UI and behavior, connect the database to that , AND AND AND integrate that to a shopify frontend/api, and then relate the products , AND test it all that should be a clue of the time-force multiplier your not just going to "dedicate a significant amount of time and effort to developing this" your gonna have a frustrating time doing so.

Even with code generations tool (chatgpt etc) if you don't know some critical basics your gonna burn a lot of time fixing self inflicted wounds or misleading/malformed code.

If you are trying to be a web developer you need to learn to make minimal reproducible examples of the BARE minimum individual pieces.

Don't try to build the entire thing at once build the simple pieces to assemble.
