i made a search filter on search and discovery that should let the customer filter by Guitar Type, Body Type, # of Strings etc, the Filter Uses Tags and the 'AND' rule but the problem is that when a website user clicks on a filter it doesnt automatically remove the other filters that no longer apply (shown in 1st pic) however if you manually refresh the page then it does as i wanted it to and hides the now not applicable tags (Shown in Pic 2).
does anyone know how i can make the site refresh automatically when someone clicks a filter or otherwise get the irrelevant filters to disapear when no longer relevant. I have the empty values setting set to 'none' on search and discovery.
Any help appreciated thanks!
Hi Kaiyaa,
Yes, here you go: wmguitars.co.uk
Hi @WMGuitars
Seems to be working now on your store.
I still haven't figured it out and have the same problem. How did you manage to solve it?
Hi @Grebla
Not entirely as id hoped but does seem somewhat better now. Honestly though i have no idea i've messed with a bunch of settings and metaobjects and all sorts trying to create a better filtering system and hit a dead end every-time. There was a update to shopify over the weekend im not sure if thats changed anything. if you send me a screenshot of your search and discovery settings and the tag filter i can tell you if the settings are different to mine?
Thanks
Thanks
Thanks.
The store URL is https://sigloo.ro/
I wish I could set the filters to "hide", but then all the filters show up instead of hiding.
The filters never refresh by themselves, they do if I reload the page manually.
Hi @Grebla
Looking at yours you have the filter logic set to 'OR' which means you can search for two conflicting tags at once and the search will show products with one or the other or both tags. If you set to 'AND' it will only show if the selected filters all apply. This combined with having the empty values set to 'Hide' is how I have our set up currently. It seems to kind of work. For the Metafield filter it works for us but for the tag filter it only kind of works for us, Unfortunately the Shopify Metafields for Guitars are a bit useless with things like 'String Colour' so we cant use metafields much. Also unrelated but I might suggest shortening the Tag names of your models, you can create groups within Search and discovery if you need the tags to have the full name. The info in Brackets seems unnecessary for filtering and causes your filters to take up a large part of the screen per option.
Hi @WMGuitars
Thanks for the reply.
Long story short, I have to update the theme and the filters will work as intended.
I will keep in mind the suggestion regarding shortening the tags.
