Hello,
I've created a custom form for my product template (i.e. here: POUF EDEN PIANCA | Mobil House Arredamenti . The form shows up when clicking on the RICHIEDI PREVENTIVO green button)
Actually the form type is 'contact', so I receive an email whenever a form is submitted.
I've seen it is also possible to create a customer by choosing a different form type (I'd opt for 'customer' type instead of 'create_customer' type as I just want to collect customer information without creating an account).
Problem is: in this case the e-mail is not sent to the store owner.
So my question is: is there a way to use a 'customer' form type and still send an e-mail to the store owner containing customer information?
Thank you
Hey Antonio_Scr,
Heddy from Gameball here.
You're on the right track with using a custom form for collecting customer information, but I understand the challenge of wanting to use the 'customer' form type while still receiving an email notification.
Unfortunately, by default, Shopify doesn't send an email to the store owner when a 'customer' form is submitted because it's primarily designed for account creation, not for notifications. However, there are a few workarounds you can consider:
1. Custom Email Notification Script:
You could use a custom script to trigger an email when the form is submitted. This would require some coding skills, where you set up an email notification in the backend whenever the form is processed. You'd need to use Shopify's API or a third-party service like Zapier to automate the email notifications.
2. Dual Form Approach:
Another option is to use two forms—one for collecting customer information using the 'customer' type, and another 'contact' type form to trigger the email notification. This way, you ensure the email is sent, but it might require customers to submit two forms, which isn't ideal for user experience.
3. Third-Party Form Apps:
There are Shopify apps that allow you to create custom forms with more flexibility, including sending email notifications to store owners. Apps like Form Builder by HulkApps or Form Builder by POWR.io might give you the functionality you need without requiring custom coding.
These solutions can help you achieve the desired outcome, but they do vary in complexity. If you're comfortable with some coding, the custom script might be the most seamless. Otherwise, exploring third-party apps could save time and hassle.
Hi Heddy,
thank you for the answer, everything clear.
Hope I'll try with option 1, so to practice with scripting a bit.
Thank you again!
