SEO titles and meta descriptions not pulling thorugh

Hi, we're using the 'Edit website SEO' box at the bottom of each page, but the changes we're making aren't being reflected on the page (i.e. the defaults are pulling through in the source code).

For example, view the source on this page: https://www.druids.com/collections/mens-shorts/products/mens-clima-shorts-grey versus what we have in the 'Edit website SEO' (see screenshot below).

Any insights anyone has as to what's causing this would be greatly appreciated. We've asked the Shopify CS team and they recommended asking here.

Hi @kieranwilson ,

SEO titles and meta descriptions will not reflect on the page. this is for google to read the content.

It takes 90 days to crawl a new website, if you already have submitted sitemap to google and varified a domain then I would suggest to work on branding and SEO.

Hey @oscprofessional, thanks for the response, but to stand a chance of influencing what Google pulls through into the SERP, you need to have some information on the page. In this instance, the title needs to sit within the <title>[title]</title> tag and the meta description needs to sit within the <meta name="description" content="[description]" /> tag. If you don't use the "Edit website SEO" function on Shopify, the title defaults to the h1 plus the website name with a separator, and the description is pulled through at random based on what's on the page.

Of course, Google may pull through whatever it wants, but it helps to have a tailored title and description to influence your click through rate.

Still hoping to find an answer to this issue, as we can optimise the product names (h1s), but we're a bit stuck with the meta descriptions.
