We sell a subscription that is also available as a pre-order. Our pre-order products are "ship next month" and "ship in two months". We batch ship all subscriptions on the same date each month.
In Shopify, the default ship date is the order date. This means all orders including pre-orders flow directly into our shipping tool the day they are purchased. Since pre-orders ship later, we manually keep track of what doesn't need to ship each day and communicate this to our 3PL. This process is not streamlined and leaves room for error.
Instead, we would like "ship next month" and "ship in two months" orders to be automatically queued and flow into our shipping tool on the first of the month they are supposed to ship. For example if a customer places an order in January for a "ship next month" subscription, the product does not enter our shipping tool until February 1. Is there a way to set a specific shipping date or shipping delay by product? Or is there another way to achieve the outcome we are looking for?
We have a solution for aligning subsequent shipments/orders with the correct date. The initial shipment is the only shipment with an issue.
Hey! Do you know what WMS your 3PL is using? At Simpl, we have powerful automation rules and can create custom scenarios for stuff like this. I can't think of a way to do this natively in Shopify but I may be able to help you figure it out if you know the WMS 🙂
