When editing a product, the box for shipping details like weight and address doesn't show up in some of the products and does in other items, what did i do wrong how can I fix it???
I had no idea what i was getting myself into when with no experience decided to open my shop and create a website. It's been a never ending loop opening can of worms every time i think I'm done 😂
Greetings, @Artsyneedle.
Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.
If you're not seeing an option to add weights to your products or you're seeing certain products not requiring a shipping address when checking out, then it's possible that some of your products aren't marked as physical products. To check and resolve this, simply look through the affected products and ensure that the box "This is a physical product" has been enabled. After enabling this option, the field for weights will appear and the product will require a shipping address at checkout.
If you have multiple products with this issue, then you can use the bulk editor to make the adjustment. Simply select multiple products and enter the bulk editor, then add the columns for the following properties: Requires shipping and Weight. From there, make sure that all of your physical products have the requires shipping box checked and input the weights.
I can see that you're a new member of our Shopify Community! Once you've resolved this issue with the physical products, I'd love to hear more about your experience so far and share some resources to help you get started. What kinds of products are you selling? Also, have you thought about advertising and developing a marketing plan for your store?

Hello!
I am also having this issue where suddenly the weight box is not showing up and neither is the option or check box that says "This is not a Physical Product" please help!
Thank you~
Hello, @MM33.
Welcome to the thread, and thanks for bringing this to our attention!
It looks like we were experiencing some service interruptions and/or slowness that affected various areas of the Shopify Admin at the time of your posting, which may have also prevented some fields from populating properly. However, I can confirm that the vast majority of these issues have since been resolved.
Can you confirm whether the issue(s) have been resolved for you?

Hi, no they have not been resolved unfortunately.
On the product page it goes from "Media" Box to "Variants" Box to "Search Engine Listing" Box. There is no place to input weight or to mark where it is a physical product, etc...
Hi, @MM33.
Thank you for following up and sharing the additional context.
When you're adding a new product, you will have a Shipping section. This section also remains visible on products that doesn't contain any variants. However, once a product with variants is created, the Shipping section will move into the Variants section as the shipping settings will now need to be applied on a variant-level. This also allows you to manage these settings separately for each variant, which is extremely useful if you sell both physical and digital variants of a product.
If you're trying to edit a product with variants, then you can find the shipping settings (eg. weight, physical product, etc.) by clicking on any variant in the Variants section, or by using the bulk editor. You'll also need to add the columns for Weight and Requires shipping in order to see these settings through the bulk editor, and I've included some screenshots to assist you with this.
If you're still unable to find the weights or shipping settings for an existing product, then we'd be happy to access your account and take a closer look. While we're unable to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community, we'd be happy to further assist you through live chat, email, or callback. Simply visit the Shopify Help Center and log into your account to create a support request.
I'd love to know if this was able to help you find the shipping settings, or if you were able to identify where the issue is coming from, then please keep us posted on the resolution. Cheers!

Yes, now I was able to access. Thanks so much for your help!
As of 7/14/2023, this is an issue. One of my staff members lost the Shipping settings too, however, I can see it. Are there new permissions?
Hey, @DaveBitton.
Thank you for joining the thread and posting this question!
There are some new staff permissions for Draft orders. However, there aren't any new permissions for Products where the shipping options are located. I'd recommend making sure that your staff has the right permissions to Create and edit products.
I noticed that you didn't check the box for 'This product requires shipping' in your screenshot, which could be where the issue is, as the system is thinking that the item isn't a physical product. If you're looking for the fields to add weights or customs information, then they'll appear after checking the box.
Let me know if this helps resolve the issue. I also noticed that you're a new member of our Shopify Community as well as a Shopify Partner! I'd love to hear more about your experience so far and share some resources to help you get started!

Not really. Most my products are Digital Goods.
Hey, @DaveBitton.
Thanks for following up!
Since your products are mostly digital, then you wouldn't need the shipping options on most of your products. However, it sounds like you may potentially carry some physical products.
Were you able to identify and resolve the issue for your staff's account?
