Shopify Google Shopping Feed Issue - BEWARE!

I have discovered that the google shopping feed that is sent from Shopify to the google merchant centre is telling it that an identifier should exist by the "TRUE" attribute.

However, I mark up my products as custom as we are a small manufacturer and do not use/have the product identifiers therefore the identifier should be showing as "FALSE" in the merchant centre.

This is also in line with the instructions from google.

As usual, Shopify support doesn't want to know and keep stating google are making the change their end yet the raw feed info shown in the merchant centre clearly states the feed from shopify is being sent as "TRUE" and therefore creating the issue.

End result is our products are not being shown in google shopping free listings and google keep notifying me there is a problem.

If anyone has a workaround or solution please let me know, I suspect a lot of small businesses don't even realise this is not working for them.

1) Don't use the free app, it's very basic and not designed for every merchant. Instead use a paid app which has more advanced functionality. All paid apps I test and use, are great and use it for my clients.

2) Use a feed rule to re-write identifier_exists to no

Thanks for the advice, very helpful!

Any recommendations for a paid app?

I will take a look at the feed rule and see if I can make it work.

I am needing assistance with several issues to perfect my Shopify store settings. I have the current issues.
I have created 11 custom shipping options within Shopify shipping settings I have about 10k products and I have grouped them into categories of which similar items ship for approximately the same amount.

I have also created the same settings within google Merchant set up for shipping by creating the same exact names and categories with identical prices for each. trying to get the two to work together.  The feed between google and Shopify will not populate the product’s into the Google Merchant platform and share in order to show the correct shipping costs for a specific products.
The customer service between Shopify tech support and Google is terrible with each saying the issue with the feed is each others problem.

I need to get this feed working and have attempted to do this with API feed however again it is way to complicated for me to sort thru and have not been able to figure it out.
My second issue is creating a feed for local inventory feed between Google and Shopify.

most recently I have the approval for inventory verification from Google however can’t get this to work either with the current Shopify feed integration.
I have tried simprosys app in two separate occasions it works fine for awhile and then collapses into failure as multiple errors. And long extensive rules have to be written soecificoin order for it to somewhat work.  Just issues with GTIN missing then multiple feed issues.

I am looking for a expert to work thru these issues with me to help finally resolve this and make the feed integration work between google Merchant center and Shopify.

Shopify says they do not support custom shipping label settings anymore they can’t assist with this issue and tell me to just set up with general shipping settings and not custom which for 10k products will take forever…. Also not the way I want it to work.

Is this something that you can do?

thanks for reviewing Martin

There are several ways you can resolve the issue. If you have grouped them by categories.

Then you can create feed rules in Google Merchant Center based on product type values. And create shipping labels.

More info: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en

Then create your shipping settings, based on feed rules (don't forget to disable automatic shipping settings in your free shopping app): https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6069284?hl=en

If that does not work, you can also use a better app, yes it's paid, but it has a lot more advanced features: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

For local integration, the above app will also work.

I have spent many days on this issue. Google support says set products to false but on checking a day later, they revert to true. I contact Shopify support, who in turn contacted Google support, who said that all products should be set to true. So one Google support team says set it to false and the other says set it to true.I have 5000 of my products not showing in Google ads. What do I do? who do I believe?

I just did a chat with google, they assured me it has to be set to false, but, just spoke with shopify and the person I spoke with said they might have a work around in the works, but that they aren't sure what to do (or he's not sure what to do). I'm very frustrated as for over a year I have asked and been told so many different things on how to make my products rank with google and google just told me that they won't until this is fixed.

Exactly the same as what I am going through. No one seems to know or bother
to dive deep into the issue. Always passing the buck or referring one to
expert help or apps. In the meantime, we sink lower and lower. Frustrating

@hopeford 2 months ago the techinique to set custom product to false worked, then all of a sudden it started to not work.

The free app is built by Shopify and is not maintained compared to a paid app.

The correct rule is as followed:

If a manufacturer has assigned a bar code, then submit brand, MPN (if available), GTIN, and set identifier exists to yes.

If the manufacturer has not assigned a bar code, then remove the values brand, MPN, GTIN, and set identifier exists to no.

While the official documentation does mention, you can submit brand + MPN and ignore GTIN. However, in most cases, this will cause issues and generate warnings such as limited performance due to missing identifiers.

And as of June 2021, specific categories and or countries require barcodes to be submitted, regardless if you have any. So, in this case, you need to get official GS1 barcodes.

There are many ways to get the data correct:

1) Use feed rules explained here: https://youtu.be/AyvilyMb2Bo?t=199

2) Use an app that is maintained constantly, as mentioned in a previous post.
