Shopify Metafield API 500 Error

Hello,

I have a script that pushes variant metafield information for my products to Shopify. I have previously implemented this and it has worked just fine without issues. When I go and run the same script today it appears that after only 5 requests Shopify returns a 500 Internal Server Error.  I am obeying the shopify API rules and not breaching the rate limit. This is an example of where I received this error, can someone please shed light as to what might be causing this? Thanks!

Edit: this is particularly urgent as it impacts the ability to dynamically update my store on the fly.
