Shopify native Cookie Banner doesn't keep a log of consents?

I've implemented Consent Mode via Shopify's native Cookie Banner. However, in order to be GDPR-compliant, one also needs to keep a record of all the consents given by the visitors. 

I can't find the consent log anywhere - am I missing something or has Shopify overlooked this major feature?

Try to use third-party cookie consent management tools, creating a custom script to log consent, or using metafields for logging.

I completely agree; this should be a core feature, not something left to third-party apps. I hope Shopify steps up so we can be compliant out of the box
