Shopify wont let me add payment to create account

TECH TIER 2: Started my free trial and now I'm choosing a plan. I got to the point where I confirm my plan: I successfully have chosen a billing cycle and business address (green check marks on both) but when it gets to adding payment, the button on the bottom "add credit card" stays grey. I've tried three different cards, all major banks, and nothing works. On the right hand side of the screen, the Start Plan button is also greyed out so I can't pay for nor start my plan for my store.

 

Can someone please help? I work IT so I've tried the basic ideas, so please come with deeper enlightenment. Thank you in advance!

When entering your card details, could you confirm the following:

 

  • The card is a valid credit card from Mastercard, Visa, or American Express.
  • A debit card that is co‑branded with Mastercard, Visa, or American Express and able to process recurring, international transactions in USD.
  • More information on the accepted payment methods for your Shopify bill in our Billing FAQ resource.

Once you've confirmed the above information, I recommend following the troubleshooting steps to ensure it is not a local issue.

 

Troubleshooting Steps:

 

  • Clear your cookies and cache and completely reboot the browser.
  • Try using an incognito window.
  • Use a different browser (ex. Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome)
  • Try on a different device or using the Shopify Mobile app.

 

If you're still receiving an issue with adding a payment method, please reach out to our support team via the Shopify Help Center. Our team can take a closer look and troubleshoot further.

Thanks Victoria. I only used the correct cards and cleared the cache, to no avail. I attempted in Incognito and I tried the app to no avail. I used Safari and it worked.

 

Hopefully the site starts working on Chrome where I have all my extensions and plugins. I don't use Safari so if that is a pre-requisite for Shopify that is a thumb down.

I'm having the same issue, am using a major car (MC) and tried multiple browsers, computers, and mobile app.

It sounds like this may be a localized/browser issue. 

 

I understand you've tried on multiple browsers, devices and through Shopify mobile. Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies or launching an incognito window?

I'm having the same problem.

Why don't you go and check with the technical team as everybody is having a similar problem instead of replying the same preprepared text?

I am having same problem have tried on phone app browser and MacBook browsers like chrome firefox and safari still doesn’t let me add my card , it says it is declined I called bank as well and they said my card was fine any help

  • The card is a valid credit card from Mastercard, Visa, or American Express.
  • A debit card that is co‑branded with Mastercard, Visa, or American Express and able to process recurring, international transactions in USD. 

Have you tried using other cards and if so, are you still experiencing the same error?

Yes I already double check that with my bank and with yalls on the phone help I tried once again this morning sitll wont let me add my card to so I can purchase a plan

Since you've already contacted your bank and tried various different cards, I suggest reaching out to our support through the Shopify Help Center. There may be another issue occurring when you're adding a payment method and I'd like our team to be able to take a look and review the information. When creating a support request through the help center, first log into your account and follow the topic prompts to view our available contact options. Same Problem. I tried all my VISA and MC from different banks. 12 cards in total!

I can not susbscribe to a shopify plan. I tried chrome and firefox. Always the same error:

 

"There is 1 error

There was a technical issue when adding your card. Please try again in a few minutes."

Earlier today, Shopify received reports of merchant's being unable to add credit card(s)/payment methods on file and receiving an error message. Our developers have since resolved the issue, and you should be able to add a CC as expected. Prior to doing so, could you try clearing your cache and cookies and rebooting your browser?
