Should I buy my domain through Shopify or a third-party site?

Hello,

I am about to start working on my new website: setazakian.com.

It is a portfolio website where it will showcase my work, but also have a link to a shop. The shop will be supported by Shopify. The rest of the website will be set up by my developer. 

My question is: Do I buy the domain "setazakian.com" on a third-party and then if necessary transfer it on Shopify to set up the shop ?

Or do I buy the domain through Shopify directly? 

And what about the rest of my website and hosting? I already have a hosting plan from another domain that would cover also a new domain.

What does Shopify's hosting cover?

Id say buy and control the domain yourself and assign it to your hosting and the shopify store. In fact I did it all through cloudflare which offers a whole lot of performance and security for free.

The process ho to assign a subdomain to your shopify shop is rather straight forward. I am not so sure how it's the other way round though.

Congrats on starting your new website. Sounds awesome! Regarding your question, you could either buy your domain from a third party and transfer it to Shopify or purchase it directly from Shopify. It's really up to you. Both options have their pros and cons. As for hosting, if you already have a hosting plan from another domain, it should also cover a new part. However, if you decide to use Shopify's hosting, remember that it only covers your shop, not the rest of your website. Have you considered VPS hosting?
