My website is loading 40 collection thumbnails in the header of every page, adding 300 KB and 40 processes before I can hit LCP. The thumbnail images don't actually display in the menu, so no idea why they're in the code. I'm using the Expanse theme. Not sure this is pertinent, but I have the Categories Uncomplicated plug-in. It didn't appear that this is generated by a plug-in, but maybe a plug-in over-riding it is the reason I didn't see it on the front end.
Where and how in Shopify would I address this? How do I disable these images from showing in the code? This screenshot shows there is a thumbnail for the Scrapbook Page Kits page in the Shop Products menu:

Welp, should've kept digging. I solved it for myself. Hopefully the next guy can benefit from this thread. I was able to delete image-related if statements here:
header-desktop-nav.liquid
and here:
header-mobile-nav.liquid
