Tap & Chip will not do firmware updates, it says it updated 1.00.0010 it says it’s completed but shows the 1.00.00.09 rebooted the iPad and that did not make a difference. It always says reader updated. Then it keeps asking to do a update

Troubleshooting hardware issues like this via forums is really difficult, however; so I would have to advise you to get in touch via phone or chat over on our support site.
If using chat, then just mention that your query relates to POS/Retail so you will be automatically presented with the option to speak to a Retail specialist.
If calling in instead; you can use the phone number listed in the 'Support' section of your POS app or you can access the retail support numbers by entering that you have a retail/POS issue on the support site when prompted so you can see the retail support numbers we have available.
The dedicated Retail Support Team will be available 7 am - 8:30 pm EST [Monday - Friday] and would be best equipped to handle this query.

I am having the same trouble... you decided to have an UNINSTALLABLE update the night before my Concert Event - for which I acquired this device. Will be asking for a refund. IT WILL NOT UPDATE - gets stuck on 23 or 32 percent... Luckily my trusty, yet awful, SQUARE is still working.
