Variants are not linking with file color images

I have uploaded color images to the file section of Shopify and have used the correct names and formatting to allow the colors to link with the variants. I have had this done for sometime now but all of the sudden the color files are not showing up on the product page. They show up in the collections page but that is about it. 

Things that I have tried are :

-Updating the theme

-Uninstalling any new apps I have installed

-reverting code back to original code.
